Catalogue for the exhibition held in Es Baluard of works by Mallorcan artist Antoni Socías in collaboration with the Hispanic-Gambian artist Caramo Fanta, published with the sponsorship of the AECID (Spanish Agency for Cooperation and Development). Socías and Fanta redefine the conventional vision of Africa by confronting the realities of the two artists, each performing an exercise in introspection in the other’s world to create new experiences and visual processes. The selection of photographs, video and sculptures includes work from previous trips made by Socías to the African continent from the late 1980s until the present day, alongside the creations of Caramo Fanta and the work they have produced together. It includes critical texts by Santiago Olmo, Basilio Baltasar and Antoni Socías himself, as well as reproductions of the works displayed.
